Volunteer & Community Service

GALAXY ARTS CENTER offers a wide variety of volunteering opportunities for our students. All volunteering activities count towards community service hours. All hours will be verified by designated Galaxy Arts Center staff. Students who accumulate enough hours can apply for the President’s Volunteer Service Awards.

Kitty Photography

3 - 5 hours

Help adoptable kitties at local animal rescues by taking their photos! Boost each kitty’s attractiveness and help them find their forever home.

Date: Two Sundays per Month

Time: 4 PM – 5 PM

Location: Galaxy Arts Center

Requirements: Volunteers are required to attend an one hour session of photography on site. Volunteers must sort and edit (if possible) photos then upload to google drive, then submit to galaxyarts@hotmail.com.

OPTIONAL: Volunteers are encouraged to upload photos to their personal social media, and advertise each adoptable pet’s rescue information.

CCOM Production Assistant

5+ hours

Assist in the recording and producing process of Galaxy Arts Center’s annual Grade Exam videos.

Date: October 20th – November 10th, 2021

Time: On call

Location: Galaxy Arts Center

Requirements: Volunteers are required to be on site and assist the recording process. Tasks include handling lighting equipment, microphones, cameras, etc. 

After School Volunteer

3 - 5 hours

Play games, socialize, and chaperone attendees at Galaxy Arts Center’s after school program.

Date: Monday – Friday, year round

Time: 3 PM – 6 PM

Requirements: Volunteers are required to be on site during after school hours. Mandarin skills preferred. Tasks include playing games with students, communicate in Mandarin, read stories, and offer basic homework help (elementary to middle school level).

Galaxy PenPals

Coming Soon

Write letters to young students in underprivileged areas of China. Share your experiences with students who are curious see the outside world through your lens.

Date: Year round

Requirements: Each volunteer will be paired with a designated penpal from an underprivileged school in China. Volunteers can introduce themselves, share their hobbies and experiences with their penpal.
